A Meta Muse alternative for phone calls
Can't get Muse to make your call? Callio calls any US business today
Meta's Muse is rolling out calls to US businesses as a limited beta. If you don't have it yet, or Muse won't call the place you need, you don't have to wait. Callio is built for one thing, calling a business for you, and it's open to everyone on iPhone and Android now.
When to use which
No Muse calling yet, or Muse can't reach the business? Use Callio: it calls any US business you can find on Google Maps, no invite and no waitlist. If you already have Muse's calling beta, it's a reasonable way to handle a quick call alongside everything else it does. If the call is the whole point, use the app built for it. Share a place from Google Maps, check the plan before it dials, and get a result that tells you what to do next. Each business keeps its own chat, and every call is made by Callio's AI, start to finish. Muse is a big agent with calling as one of many features, and Meta is still working out how those calls get made.

Muse calling not available to you yet? Or it won't call the place you need?
As of September 2026, Muse calling is a beta that goes first to people who asked for it, and early testers found it would only dial verified business numbers. If you're not in the beta yet, or the number you need isn't one it will dial, you're left waiting. Callio has neither limit. Download it on iPhone or Android, pick any US business on Google Maps, say what you need, and it calls.
Seamless from Google Maps to the result, and long after
Spot a place in Google Maps, tap Share, pick Callio, and say what you need. No copying numbers or retyping names. Callio writes the plan, you approve it, and it calls from its own line. The result lands in that business's chat with the outcome up front and the full conversation underneath. Weeks later, it's still there: open the business, and every call you've made to it is in one thread with what was said and agreed. Need to move the booking? Ask in the same chat, and Callio picks up from what the last call found.
Your call stays between you and the business
Meta tested, with its own employees, a mode where Muse hands a call to a trained human agent in a call center who places it and works it through. A Meta executive called adding human callers without clear disclosure a mistake, and Meta has rolled it back for now. It says it will only bring it out with proper disclosures. Callio works differently: every call is placed and handled by Callio's AI. Your name, your booking details, and the reason you're calling go to the business you asked about, from Callio's own number rather than yours.
You see the call before it happens
Tell Callio what you need and it writes out what it will say and ask. You read it, change anything that's off, and only then does it dial. It never makes up details you didn't give it, so the business hears your request, not a guess at it.
Every call sorted, including the ones that fail
Callio doesn't hand you a wall of text and leave you to work out what happened. Each call is sorted into a clear result. Done: booked, with the details, or your place on the waitlist. Needs you: the business asked for something you hadn't given, so add it and Callio calls again, or they said to call back later. Didn't happen, and why: no answer, a busy line, voicemail, a phone menu that led nowhere, a hang-up before we could explain, or simply fully booked. If the problem was on our side, it says so. It only reports what was actually said on the call, so a greeting never gets passed off as a booking, and one tap on Call Again tries once more. When a booking goes through, Callio also hands you an On-Site Card to show the staff when you arrive.
Where Muse wins
Muse does far more than calls. If you want one agent for email, shopping, travel, and the occasional call, that breadth is the reason to use it, and Callio doesn't try to compete with it. Callio is for when the call is the thing that has to go right.
Questions
Muse and Callio, answered
Can Meta's Muse call a business for me?
Only in a limited test so far. Meta opened calling to US businesses as a beta in September 2026, giving it first to people who asked for it, and early testers found it would only dial verified business numbers. Callio is available now to anyone on iPhone or Android, and calls any US business you can find on Google Maps.
How do I get Muse's calling feature?
Meta says calling goes first to people who asked Muse for it, so asking Muse is the way in. It hasn't said when everyone else gets it. If the call needs to happen today, Callio is open to anyone on iPhone or Android and calls any US business on Google Maps.
Why can't Muse make calls for me?
Two common reasons, based on what's been reported. Your account isn't in the calling beta yet, since Meta is giving it first to people who asked for it. Or the business isn't a verified number, which early testers found was all Muse would dial. Callio has neither limit: anyone can use it, and it calls any US business on Google Maps.
What can I use instead of Muse to call a business?
Callio. Pick the business on Google Maps or search for it in the app, tell Callio what you need in a sentence, check the plan, and it makes the call. You get the result and the full transcript when it ends. Callio is a Premium subscription, and you can see the plans before your first call.
Are Muse calls made by a person?
Meta tested having trained human agents in a call center take over Muse calls, with its own employees, then rolled it back for now. It says any rollout would come with proper disclosures. It hasn't said how often calls would go to a person. Every Callio call is made by Callio's AI.
Does the business know it's an AI calling?
Callio says it's an AI up front on booking calls, and on any other call the moment anyone asks. It never claims to be a person.
Can I use both?
Of course. Plenty of people will have Muse for everyday errands. Callio is worth having for the calls that need a plan you've checked and a record you can go back to.
The call you've been putting off? Consider it made.
Download Callio and handle your next call without picking up the phone.
